It's a New Year. Time for Changes!

So change is on the horizon. I happily put out some new content January 1st, trying my hand at writing a novella-length work of fiction. I'm happy to say that the work has paid off. Clockwise & Gone has made a wonderful start and brought in some excellent reviews so far. If you haven't had a chance to check out this latest addition to my In Times Like These Series, be sure to have a look!.

Some of you may have read the news that Facebook is making changes to its newsfeed.  How will that affect you? Well, one way is that it will give you more posts from your family, friends, and groups you enjoy and less commercial content. You'll see more posts with comments and fewer videos, ads, and notifications from publishers, content providers, and businesses. I think the changes will be very positive. But I want to make sure that I still have a way to connect with those who want to stay in touch. That's why I decided to create a dedicated public Facebook group for readers of my In Times Like These Series and anyone else who wants a place to talk time travel, books, or just wants to hang out. The group is called In Times Like These Time Travelers and anyone can join. You'll have absolutely zero obligation to participate in anything, but you'll have the opportunity to weigh in on new cover designs, hear from occasional guest authors, and be first to learn about new deals and bonuses. Join the group today to get into the fun!

I have another level of activity available as well. If you are looking to be an active participant in the production of this series and would like a chance to beta read the new material as it is taking shape, you may be a good candidate for Beta Team Bravo, my group for advance readers of my books. It does require some commitment to be involved and to actively read and review new content. I'll ask you to commit to leaving a review on Amazon when the books are published and I'll of course ask that you not share any content outside the group. But if you think you'd like to a part of the ongoing process of the creation of this series, Beta Team Bravo might be right for you!

As many of you may know. I love a good deal. That's why recently when I needed to buy some shipping envelopes and saw that I could save some money by buying in bulk, I jumped at the chance. "I can get a hundred and save how much?! I'm in!" Of course, my wife looked into the office closet and said, what on earth are you going to do with all these envelopes?
Answer?
Send you guys stuff!

As always, I'm excited to hear from you about what you've been up to, your thoughts on books, and what you'd like to get more of from my writing. I'm currently working on multiple projects, including book 4 of the In Times Like These series and I can't wait to share more details about it with you. I'd like to have the book finished by this summer but I am waiting to see how the arrival of little Baby Van Coops affects my writing schedule. My wife and I are expecting a daughter at the end of February/beginning of March. I'll be sure to let you know when she arrives. Personally, I can't wait!

Wishing you all the best.
Till next time!

Reviews:"A glorious, detailed world and an epic story! “Faster Than Falling” is up there with the grandest of adventures, set in a strange new land. I was reminded strongly of Robin Hobbs’ wonderful tales (in voice, not content). Van Coops beckons the reader through the door, then drags you into a fantastic ride, replete with eccentric tech; alien naturescapes ... and good old-fashioned piracy. Storytelling at its finest!"- Robert Scanlon, Author of Constellation.

★★★★★ Filled with outstanding characters, bold escapades and breathtaking scenery, it is a fast-paced and brilliant adventure for all ages. Bethany Cousins (Amazon US review)

★★★★★"An epic tale of adventure and coming-of-age." Mark Speed, Author of Dr. How and the Illegal Aliens (Goodreads Review)

★★★★★ "Action packed adventure and unforgettable characters make "Faster Than Falling" one of my all-time favorites. Enjoyable for adults and teens alike. Clean, fun, powerful, and just amazing!" Kay Clark (Goodreads Review)

What's New: Faster Than Falling: The Skylighter Adventure

Very excited to announce that my newest book will be out soon. I'm planning to launch a new series in either late June or early July. The first book is titled, Faster Than Falling: The Skylighter Adventure.

Here's the blurb:

Beneath the Ocean of Sky, heroes will rise.

Samra Rose is in trouble. Born in a colony floating high above the clouds, she’s been convinced nothing interesting would ever happen to her, but when aerial raiders carry off her home—with her inside—she gets more excitement than she ever wished for. Her best friend, Kipling, and a grounder boy with a skyship will take to the air on adventures of their own, but all three will face dangers they’ve never imagined. The aerial ocean is a turbulent place full of deadly creatures and cutthroat pirates. If they hope to survive, they’ll need to fight for their place in the Heights and confront those who have already claimed it.

Follow the adventures of three unlikely heroes as they abandon the safety of home to seek a destiny aloft in the clouds.

Fans of grand science fiction universes, steampunk airships, and daring pirate adventures will discover a thrilling new world of action, villainy, and friendship.

Looking forward to bringing you the story July 2017.

Wrapping Up 2016

It’s been quite a year. Between politics and boxing matches, celebrity losses and the Summer Olympics, we’ve had plenty of ups and down to keep us on our toes. I hope that through it all you’ve been able to keep your focus and your positive outlook for the future. Personally, I’m really looking forward to 2017. 2016 was a good year for me and I hope to make 2017 even better. One of my biggest goals is putting out more books.

I’m 68,000 words into my new novel and outlining my way through the end. I’m going to push hard to get a first draft done at the end of February and start revisions. I’ll be sure to post up title and cover reveals as they come up. Want to be a part of my beta reading team and be among the first to read new books? Sign up here.

Not every part of 2016 was a success. I certainly didn’t add nearly as much content to this website as I’d hoped. I tend to do most of my communicating via my subscriber list or on Facebook. Want to know more about what I’ve been up to and get more exclusive content? Be sure to join the mailing list or say hello on Facebook.

Wishing you all the best in this coming year!
